Electronic Arts has signed a multiyear partnership with Visa to bring exclusive in-game rewards and real-world experiences to players of "EA Sports FC" and "College Football." The deal, announced Tuesday, will integrate Visa's payment network into the gaming ecosystem, offering fans special content, virtual currency bonuses, and access to live events tied to both franchises.
Under the agreement, players can earn rewards by using Visa cards for purchases within the games or through promotional campaigns. The collaboration also includes activations at major college football games and soccer matches, where fans can unlock digital items by scanning QR codes or attending branded booths. EA says the goal is to bridge the gap between virtual play and real-world fandom.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the partnership signals EA's push to deepen engagement with its sports titles. "EA Sports FC" continues to build on the legacy of the former FIFA series, while "College Football" returned last year after a decade-long hiatus. Both games have large, active player bases that EA wants to keep hooked with tangible perks.
Critics note that such deals often blur the line between gameplay and commerce, but EA insists the rewards are optional and not tied to competitive advantages. The first wave of Visa-exclusive content is expected to roll out in the coming weeks, with more details to follow during the upcoming college football season and the next "FC" title launch.
