Two games once lost to the history of Nintendo's ill-fated Virtual Boy are finally seeing the light of day. Zero Racer and D-Hopper, two titles fully developed but never officially released for the red-and-black 3D console, are being added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack library.
This marks the very first time these games will be playable by the public. Zero Racer is a futuristic racing game, while D-Hopper is an isometric puzzle-platformer. Both titles have been preserved and adapted for modern play, allowing a new generation to experience pieces of gaming history that were once confined to Nintendo's archives.
The inclusion is part of the ongoing expansion of the Virtual Boy catalog within the premium subscription service. It offers a rare glimpse into what could have been for the short-lived 1990s hardware. For enthusiasts and historians, this represents a significant recovery of lost media, turning prototypes into playable reality decades after their intended launch. The addition continues Nintendo's trend of unearthing and presenting obscure parts of its vast software library to subscribers.
