What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8-9 August)

August is flying by faster than a speedrun, but that just means we have another weekend to enjoy some proper gaming time. This is our regular check-in where we share what the team has been diving into over the past few days, and we want to hear about your own sessions too.

This week, a few of us have been circling back to older titles. One editor is finally tackling the back half of a massive JRPG they started back in spring, mostly because the summer sale finally put the DLC at a price they could justify. Another is deep into a co-op survival game with friends, trying to build a base before the next patch resets the map. And someone else is just playing a simple puzzle game on their phone during lunch breaks, because not every session needs to be an epic.

For the weekend itself, plans are a mix of new and old. There is a new indie roguelike that just dropped, and it looks perfect for short bursts between chores. A couple of us are also planning to jump into a multiplayer shooter for a few hours, just to see if the latest balance changes actually fixed the meta. And at least one person is going to spend Sunday afternoon replaying a classic from the PS2 era, just for the nostalgia hit.
