We have seen the trailer. We have heard the rumors. We know it is coming in Fall 2025. But for a game that is arguably the most anticipated piece of entertainment in history, Grand Theft Auto VI remains remarkably opaque. Rockstar Games has kept its cards close to the chest, leaving fans with a handful of massive, unanswered questions.
First, where exactly is Vice City? The trailer showed a neon-soaked version of Miami, but the original GTA: Vice City was a time capsule of the 1980s. Is this a modern-day setting, or a blend of eras? The second big question is about the protagonists. We know Lucia is the first female lead in the series' mainline history, but how does the Bonnie and Clyde dynamic actually work? Can you switch between her and her partner Jason on the fly, or is it a more scripted partnership?
Third, what is the scale? Rockstar promised the "biggest, most immersive evolution" of the series, but does that mean a map larger than Red Dead Redemption 2, or a denser, more interactive city? Fourth, will the online mode, GTA Online, carry over? Players have spent billions of dollars and thousands of hours in the current version. A full reset would be controversial.
Fifth, and perhaps most critically, what is the tone? The trailer was a chaotic, satirical look at modern influencer culture. Will the story be a serious crime drama like GTA IV, or a more cartoonish parody like GTA V? Finally, the biggest question of all: will it actually launch in 2025? With Rockstar's history of delays and the sheer ambition of the project, many are holding their breath. For now, we can only wait and wonder.
